The Ambit Energy Scam

The Energy Gold Rush? Ambit Energy Is A Scam and Fraud, But Not In The Way You Think It Is
(this site is NOT affilliated with Ambit Energy, it is a private opinion site)

So you are looking to join Ambit Energy as a consultant? Are you wondering if your $400 investment (or whatever they charge now) is going to be worth it?
Well, statistics say that you are better off investing that money in a simple savings account because you will fail.
That’s right, the scam that is Ambit Energy is the fact that whomever is talking to you about it is getting you all hyped up on all the money you can make. They are selling you a dream. But that dream comes true for very few people. In fact, the person who is trying to sell you on Ambit Energy is probably making nothing either!!!!!!

Let’s see anyway, I bet you’ve heard things like this:
–natural gas and electricity are the perfect products because they are habitually used
–this is a ground floor opportunity
–natural gas and electricity are the new gold rush
–everyone uses electricity and natural gas so everyone needs what you are offering

Am I pretty close?
Well, guess what dear friend: 95% of you who read this will fail. Wanna know why? The reason you will fail is because you actually value your family and friendships.

That may have thrown you for a loop so read it again: The reason you will fail at Ambit Energy is because you truly value your friendships and family. In other words, you are not willing to take advantage of family or friends in order to advance you so-called “Ambit Business.”

Using Guilt On Family And Friends To Advance Your Ambit Business

You see, once you sign over your money and become an Ambit consultant, they will tell you to go get your first couple of customers. Those should be your close friends and family and if they should refuse to sign up as your electric or gas customer, then you tell them “well, our relationship is gonna change then since you won’t trust me on this.” ( I personaly heard this statement being made by a Texas consultant, a pastor, on a couple of occasions)

Therein folks, is the Ambit Energy Scam! The scam is in the Ambit leaders ability to shame you into taking advantage of friendships to advance yourself in the business. Have you ever heard the term “never mix business with pleasure?” …yeah, that is a true statement. It’s a bad idea. So the sense of the word “scam” is a different interpretation then what you are used to!

Convince A Stranger To Sign Up For the Ambit Energy Dream: Fat Chance!

But there is still more to the Ambit Thing… how about after you have sifted through all your friends and family and made them feel guilty or uncomfortable? Then what? Are you gonna go out and knock on doors in your neighborhood? I doubt it!

You see, after you have scorched all your friendships, the next thing is to talk with strangers, and that is a very very tough sell, especially when you really can’t offer them anything. In fact, you have to get them to fork over $400 too and try to live a pipe dream.

Folks, this is the trouble with ALL multi-level marketing schemes. They prey on your hope of something better. The problem is that less than 5% of people who ever sign up for some bull shit MLM thing every make their money back to break even. And you see, the rish assholes at the top count on the fact that there more and more suckers out there who will kick in the $400 and get a couple customers before becoming discouraged and quitting.

Only Already Established MLM Leaders Make Any Money With Ambit Energy
This is my opinion…
The final part to the Ambit is the fact that most of the top earners already were involved in some previous MLM pyramid before coming to Ambit. You can check it out. All of them were in some other thing that “just wasn’t working out” and decided to come over to Ambit. What does this tell you?

It tells me that in order to be successful in Ambit Energy, you need to be able to bring an army of seasoned MLM workers with you. It is nearly impossible to build an Ambit business with no MLM experience or previous contacts.

With all that being said, I do believe that Ambit delivers on what they promise their customers and they do pay their consultants their earnings in a timely fashion. The Ambit business is sound (for now) and financially viable.

The issue is the fact that YOU will not succeed in it. You just won’t, so save your money. Trust me!

UPDATE Feb 2009: oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention there is some ass-wipe in Texas who is an executive consultant that will try to sell you an “energy gold rush” website for a monthly fee as well. The big honcho above him, the founding consultant, sends out regular emails to the rank-and-file members encouraging them to invest in an Energy Gold Rush site. Kinda funny that you’d need to buy this third party website in order to be successful. Of course, I can’t seem to find any of his client sites (subdomains) ranking anywhere in the SERPS. In fact, the root domain only has 4 backlinks in yahoo site explorer and one is his now-dead personal blog! ha! another scam! (SERPs = Search Engine Results Pages) On another similar note, if this executive consultant is making so much money, why doesn’t he just give away the ENERGY GOLD RUSH sites for free?

this is really no different than amway except you don’t purchase anything you can see. I won’tbuyany of that crap either. go scammed!

  2. Joe says:

Scammed is correct as far as this site being “Free Speech”. Unfortunately: The “Free Speech” on this site has led to “Free for all LIES”.

It hurts me to see people who are trying to build an honest business feel as though this site means something? It doesnt! I take every new consultant I sponsor to this site and I explain each post and whether it’s propaganda or hype or outright lies. I take each consultant through the “SEARCH ENGINE” “GOOGLE” and I show them how anyone at anytime and anywhere can post anything online. I ask the new consultants who their cell provider is…..most say AT&T or VERIZON, and then i type in company name scam: at that point the consultants eyes are opened! They usually respond to me with “WOW….i didnt realize how many scam posts are on the internet about every company”

I truly enjoy this site for what it is……This site is operated by someone who doesnt understand capitalism, and doesnt understand that lies are easily identified.

I look forward to becoming the next EXECUTIVE CONSULTANT with Ambit Energy. Do not listen to anyone or any posts…..whether positive or negative. Listen to your own heart.

Work with someone who can lead you in the right direction. I have turned more skeptics into believers by simply showing them the truth.

    Scammed….thank you for this site.

  3. Gail says:

I’m a customer, thinking about being a consultant.

My research includes, J. D. Power & Associates, Reference USA Business, and BBB. J. D. Power lists Amit as a “top five electric provider in Texas” based on customer satisfaction survey of 8,100 residental customers.

If you work it, you’ll be successful.

  4. Johnny says:

I belive all “scam” came from Ambit compitators who want their customers pay more!

hired gun whouldn’t work, customers no longer fooled around, we all have our own judgement.

    from NJ

  5. Robert says:

Like anything else always do your own research. I signed up with another energy company not as a rep but as a customer and all I can tell you is I saved some money on energy, not to mention I got a bonus of $75.00 for signing up for a year. Rates went up but mine didn’t and it’s locked in. Did I make any money….no….did I save anything with a phone call after some light reading….YES! ???

  6. Joseph says:

    Inc.Mag – 2010 Fastest Growing Company in U.S.A

Inc.Mag – 2011 Still one of the Fastest growing companies in the U.S.A

BBB – (A) Rating with over 600,000 customers

J.D Power and Associates – Top Five Electric providers in Texas!!

I have been enjoying this site for over a year now….and all I see is the same thing: Ambit grows with revenue and recognition, and people who fail at this business play “VICTIM”.

    It’s funny.

  7. Sal says:

you know it make me sick when someone who can’t cut it blames everyone else for their misfortune. Get off you pity pot and go to work. This is net “WORK” marketing. I have been involved for less than two years and my dreams are coming true. Yes, there have been slow times but what it all boils down to is this simple little phrase: “What do you want, What does it cost, not just in money but in time and effort, and are YOU willing to pay the price?” Too many of you are not willing to do what it take, if you were you wouldn’t be writing these stupid remarks. so Go cry on someone elses shoulder. We in Ambit don’t have time to listen to you complaining.

  8. john says:

It is like any other business if you work hard and smart enough you will suceed but it is hard work.

  9. I actually believe that you can join ambit, but its just up to you on how you promote this service. The more you promote the more money you may make. Just remember, for every 10 people that say no, 1 will say yes!

  10. Joe Lango says:

I am just getting started and cant wait to see what happens. To me you all seem a bit mad , did you try it and not have any thing happen. People have to try hard and not wait for something given to them for free. We all must have a goal and work towards that goal.

  11. Joseph says:

I am not an Ambit customer, though I know both consultants and customers. If you tell people that the worst that can happen when they become a customer is that they save hundreds to thousands of dollars per year on their energy bill, I really don’t see a problem. No one is forcing under penalty of death or harm to save a few bucks…

Yes, perhaps the 5% spoken of in this article have been part of other MLM’s, but it worked for them, didn’t it? If you pay attention to how you taught to sell the product and run the business, it could happen to the next person.

Energy is not the new gold rush… It’s been around since the beginning of time in some way, shape or form. However, it is something that everyone that uses gas or electric must pay to use. Why not have it paid to you so that your friends and family can come to you and say they saved money thanks to you?

This is the same with ANY other business. If you went to fuel your car and found 2 gas stations across from another, would you go to the one that sold it at $3.50/gallon or $3.00/gallon? What if that station that sold at the lower price was consistently 50 cents less and the fuel was just as good?

Think about it… You are using energy to keep your computer up an running. Would you prefer to run it at $5 a month for the electricity used or $3? The $24 saved in a year is half a tank of fuel for your car!

(Heck, I’m selling myself on it!)

  12. ben says:

THE NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE THE ARTICLE DISCUSSES HOW E.S.C.O’S-ENERGY SERVICE COMPANIES, SOMETIMES MISLEAD PEOPLE BASED ON NO SAVINGS GUARANTEE. THE WRITER ALSO GIVES HIS OR HER OPINION ABOUT HIS OR HER THOUGHTS ON MULTI LEVEL MARKETING.

***The biggest reason why this is a scam is that the energy consultants do not make money really through a substantive e brokerage fee for reselling energy, rather that is the front, and cover. Instead as we all know the reps make money by bringing in underlings.
Problem is none of you ambit reps understand the dynamic of commodity purchasing-so to advice anyone privately or commercially could be disastrous since energy purchasing involves financial riisk.

So what value does this ESCO provide its customers -none at all !
No commercial end user would go near an Ambit just as they would not go near a Glacial /

Its like if you sold nuclear energy, and a rep calls up a prospect and merely saying the words” I do nuclear energy” like that automatically means you have some specific knowledge base–give me friggin brake. You want to learn the biz , work for a real supplier of consultant, You are all wasting your time. We are older and did this all with Excel in the 90′s get over it. get a real job

  13. ben says:

you guys are paying money on the hopes of making money from the pyramid (mlm that is in no differently structured from any other pyramid)

In certain dereg markets you cannot state that a fixed rate will beat tarrif and the incumbent rate, with budget certainty because the utility price structures changes every few months, so there are no options that you can offer as a rep. to an end user. In fact you guys are just one esco pushing one product, with no regard or understanding for what that actually is.

But lets face it, the customer is a rate payer to you not a client.
After all, all you csre is getting underlings and expanding the rep network. Guess what have you really seen someone elses check before??? really?

For anyone to make money in a pyramid (not the founders at the top)
your downline must go on and on. Truth is people have a finite number of contacts, and nobody is really interested in speculation. So the engine fizzles. How could you reasonably expect people you have no control over that are under you, to trust that they will push something forward. We cannot even trust our own person. Whats worse that people are silly enough to spend money to have a site that is no different than anyone else. Ooh sign up with me, I offer no different value, but am as desperate as all the people with the other similar sites.

  14. ben says:

are you people that dumb, that nobody is an intelligent adult to see the facts that exist also for the intelligent people–in this whole post of hundreds of responses. Are their no lawyers or doctors or higher thinkers here…sheesh

  15. Well it is all about the people that you bring in and for 400; dollars that they el need to get involved ,you do the math should I say more !

  16. Eugene Cox says:

I became a Amit Independant Consultant last week and had my first consultant join within an hour. I personally know people that have made a good living as a consultant and as for the super small investment of $429 that buys my web sites
total team support, I would spend that much on eating our and entertainment in one month. So why not put it into a home business that is proven and the most successful in this
or any other industry. Just check it out for yourself. The top Ambit Executives helped create and then sell sucessful companies such as the 7-Eleven Food store chain, That’s not a pyramid based business. Get your facts but remember, there are no facts on this blog page.

    Thanks, Gene

  17. Glenn says:

Unfortunately someone is not very educated and doesn’t know how to do research.

The energy gold rush system cost money for someone to create. This person who created it is entitled to make a profit. The person who created it is not affiliated with Ambit Energy.

It is all over the news including the incumbents web sights that you should choose a supplier and that they do not care who you chose nothing changes.

Are companies such as Avon and Mary Kay a scam? Look up the Better Business Bureau rating of National Grid (F) and Ambit Energy (A)

Any idiot is entitled to an opinion. On the internet you can’t be help liable. Blog’s are even worse.

  18. scammed says:

Glenn, you are a dumbass. the guy who runs Energy Goldrush IS an ambit consultant… I sat in a meeting of his.
The websites he creates for you are called “self replicating” same as the one you pay $20 a month for with the Ambit Scam… they cost nothing to create, and pennies to host per month.
    you are getting ripped off.

  19. Merv48 says:

So Ambit is a pyramid structure; how is that relevant? Look at the organization chart for ANY company, church, any ORGANIZATION, for that matter – what is it? A pyramid! So what? Only the people at the top make money? The guy who brought me in has a guy two levels below him who is making far more than HE is. Here’s MY experience: I’ve been in Ambit for a year. I now have a total of 29 personal gas and electric customers, and I get free electricity. I’m retired, but I took a long-term substitute teaching job 6 months in, and I just can’t do both at once, so, I did nothing for six months until about two months ago. I focused on customer gathering to get the free energy, and just didn’t show the program. You don’t get consultants without showing the program (I have a friend who did, just by handing someone his business card, and that guy is doing well, but that’s very rare). I’ve shown the program twice in the last two months, with no results. I realize that I probably need to show it ten times to get one yes; this is NOT a get rich quick scheme. Yes, there are always those superstars who go out and promote very fast, but it’s not a race. It may take me five years to do what they did in six months; so what? NO one has ever told me to tell ANYone that if they don’t become my customer, our relationship will change. I DO ask them to do me a favor, and I tell them WHY I wnat them to do so, but I also do THEM a favor and save them money. We’re saving 21.5% on our own electricity bill (can’t get natural gas where I live). You can find people doing it wrong in any legitimate business; Ambit does its best to weed them out. Their motto is “Never sacrifice integrity for growth”, and that’s not just a saying; I’ve found that it permeates the entire corporate culture. If, after five years this has not worked out as I thought it would, and I believe that I’ve done my best to do what I need to do to be successful, I will have los t nothing: all the expenses I’ve incurred in doing business are tax deductible. Having said all that, I believe scammed is partially right; many people do NOT make it in network marketing, simply because it is not only easy to get INTO, it’s also very easy to get OUT of, because of the small, tax-deductible investment, and because they treat it it like a $429 business. If you treat it that way, as I did for six months, it’ll pay you like a $429 business. Treat it like you invested $429,000 ( as I, admittedly, struggle sometimes to do), and it’ll pay you like you invested that much.

  20. Merv48 says:

Oscar jm – you want to shake the hand of the real person who knew nothing about MLM and has made it? I KNOW him – his name is Bob Granger, owner of Eastern Energy Solutions in Afton, NY. Bob’s business is helping large companies lower their energy bills. When presented with the Ambit opportunity, he was very skeptical, but used his sources in the energy to check out the company and its claims for two weeks, after which, he decide he couldn’t afford NOT to be in Ambit, even though he was already spending about 70 hours/week running his other business. Less than a year and ahalf later, he became an Executive Consultant. I imagine he’s making at least $3 grand/mo from Ambit at this point, not counting the $1,000/month car allowance an EC gets. I’m not going to do it that fast, obviously, but I WILL do it, IF I discipline myself to do put in consistent, persisten effort. People need to take responsibility for their OWN lives; my success or failure is up to ME, no one else.

  21. Rick says:

I have been a Ambit Consultant for about 4 months, have only had a few hours a week to put into building my business, I have gotten my investment back already and will start getting my free energy checks next month, those checks alone will keep coming month after month even if I do nothing from here on , also I have saved $60 for the last 3 months on my light bill, and have called all my customers and every one of them has save between 8 and 45%, If you treat this like a get rich business, it won’t work, you will get frustrated, and bitter as some of the blogs point out. Does this take hard work , Yes, will there be people that doubt it , Yes. In an economy that is struggling at best, here is a business that can work if you get over being lazy and bitter,

  22. Incredible says:

Simple savings account? Banks offer .05% Interest, Inflation averages 3% do the math idiot! Because you “goggle” a company, you consider that “research”? Lazy ass man…. why don’t you ask successful people how they became successful? You are probably sitting in your mother’s basement with your underoos on and whacking off to old Brady Bunch episodes. And you call yourself American….. piss on you.

  23. scammed says:

thank you “Incredible” for giving the exact example of what an Ambit consultant is all about. Point proven… animals.

  24. Incredible says:

You have no point. You have an opinion. Your opinion is not fact. The “fact” is you are scared of hard work and probably have not accomplished much of anything in life. That is ok, you are the 90% of most Americans. Stick to your “savings” in a bank and see what happens down the road…. “Oh Mr. President, can you please give us old people more money? We did not do the right things with our money and since we are American, we have a right to draw Social Insecurity!” Again, piss on you…animal.

  25. Incredible says:

It is ashame that when someone does not understand something, they immediately yell, “Scam!” Bernie Madeoff was a SCAM….However, legitimate “business” opportunities are just that. Meanwhile, McDonalds sells “garbage” to our kids, but that’s ok, because McDonald’s advertises on TV. People better wake up or get left behind! Remember: Nothing worthwhile comes easy!

  26. scammed says:

Actually Incredible, you are acting as a representative of Ambit here and it’s interesting that when you find something you don’t like, your first reaction is to talk about perverted acts in a basement. Just illustrates what you guys are all about… that is the point – please try to keep up Fort Worth.

  27. oldbuddyolpal says:

In that case, McDonald’s is just as much as a scam. Have you ever seen their TV commercials? They show this amazing, beautiful, probably fake, and very luring cheeseburger or whatever. They are selling a DREAM too. A DREAM cheeseburger. Have you ever bought anything from McDonald’s? What you actually get looks a lot worse than what they showed in the commercial. Oh well. There are 2 types of people in the world. Those that make excuses and those that make money. You’d be the first.

  28. Mac says:

I am a Viridian Energy customer and associate. I have been involved in the business for 2 months and I have made half my investment back. I think both companies are legit and u do save money and u can make money if u work hard at it!

  29. missouri says:

why would someone in missouri join ambit when it does not exist in missouri?

  30. Rob Shannon says:

Hey Incredible you have a lot of class. Are all Ambit consultants as classy as you?

  31. ET says:

    So…
$429 to sign up to save $20 per month on power bill and maybe my $429 is tax deductible and that would equal a $103 savings on my taxes

    hmmmm…
that’s 17 to 22 months to break even on my investment

that’s almost 2 years for a customer to show a savings

that’s $40 to $140 of true savings after 2 years

… SO what friends and family are REALLY being offered is …

    a $2 to $4 savings per month

(if ambit doesn’t charge any more fees… like annual or monthly fees)

  32. A Qureshi says:

  33. Steve says:

I am looking at becoming a consultant and at 20 years of age with several successful friends in this company, I say why not! What hurt is going to come from investing in myself and working my butt off to see the results that I am looking for. I currently work 40 hours and it really is not cutting it. So even with a few friends and co-workers and maybe some strangers mixed in, I could be paying nothing for my energy and getting paid each month by just working like I should be. My motivation is to pay for college and financial security, I know it is going to include long hours and lots of talking and upselling. But life is what you make it, and I am going to make it worth while!

For those of you bashing this, just think about how one person mentioned Avon, or even franchises. It is all about how far you are willing to go to make things work for everyone. It is all about “PAY IT FORWARD” if you haven’t seen the movie, please do. What you do for one person, they may help 3 more in turn each and each of those helps 3 more each. Your possibilities are truly endless so long as you take the time and put in your effort to make yourself succeed!

  34. Chrisian says:

Ambit is not a scam, it is a business. People who succeed will swear by it. People who fail will call it a scam. That is the way it is in any business, Network marketing is not for me, so I would not sign up, I am a customer who is enjoying getting a check for the people I referred. and I am saving between 10 and 12 % on mt gas and electric.

  35. Charlie Brown says:

Typical PYRAMID like AMWAY and other companies.
First company reps tell you how much money they are making and that you can do the same.
If you on top you make big money but most people on the bottom make very little or no money.
Don’t look at better business bureau “BBB” gets money from businesses to join

  36. Charlie Brown says:

Somebody once said “sucker is born every 15 minutes “

  37. Joe says:

Hmmm I been doing Ambit for a 2 months now and received all my up front money on my way of getting free energy my downline consultants tha
nk me for showing them this opportunity my customers are saving money on their bills. And as far as going to family and friends to become customers that don’t sign up for some lame excuse and to support you well I guess there not your friends anyway to begin with. So with that all u people who say Ambit is a scam you need to put the crack pipe down step away from the keyboard and GO GET A JOB!!!!
    SINCERELY Joe. Happy Holidays everyone!!!
    Go Ambit!!!!

  38. getincrumpdup says:

THIS SOUNDS GREAT TO ME, I HAVE BEEN RUNNING BUISNESSES FOR OVER 20 YEARS. EVERYTIME I “HIRE” A NEW EMPLOYEE IT COST ME WELL OVER $400 JUST TO TRAIN THEM. IN THE HOPES THAT THEY WILL ACTUALLY “WORK OUT” AND DO A GOOD JOB AND STAY WITH ME FOR SOME TIME TO COME. THIS IS SO GREAT I SHOULD START “CHARGING MY NEW APPLICANTS” $400 FOR FOR THE JOB APPLICATION AND TRAINING EXPENSIVES. SHIT YOURE HIRED IF THEY GOT THE “CASH”. AND IF THEY DONT “WORK OUT” IN A FEW DAYS OR SO. WELL THEN WHO CARES I CUT MY LOSSES!!! GO …”MLM” THIS IS THE WAY OF FUTURE HIRING OF NEW EMPLOYEES IN THE DIGITAL AGE!!! LOL.

  39. Pam says:

If you would have put as much time in to Ambit as you did writing this you might have been successful. Every friend and family member have a choice when I show them this, and everyone of them have thanked me for saving them money. If they choose to become a consultant (their choice) they have also thanked me for giving them the OPPORTUNITY to build a business. Who ever brought you in to Ambit didn’t do a very good job. I always am honest and up front that this is not a “Get Rich Quick Scheme”. You have to work, yes work to build any business. How many people do you know who open a new business turn a profit when they open their doors? I would say ZERO. Go ask the guy who just opened a McDonald’s franchise for a Million and a half dollars who has to work 80+ hours a week to try and pay off that loan! See people who don’t succeed in life always have to blame someone else for their failure, when in fact all you have to do is look in the mirror. You see in my other profession that I have been working at for 25 years, I work 40 hours a week make a very good income but the bottom line is, that’s what I make a very good income. All the money that I bring in to the company (Millions) guess where that goes? Good guess….to the top of the Pyramid Scheme at my company THE OWNER! Don’t get me wrong, he deserves every penny. He worked HARD for years to build this company, just as I will work hard to build mine. IN 4 years if I am getting Free Energy and making ANY amount of residual income, it’s more than I have now and will be a little nest egg. Do I expect to be one of the “Top” consultants? Of course not, that’s a pipe dream but I do have the opportunity to make more than I have now. Bottom line is you get back what you put in. If you are afraid of work, this is not the place.

  40. Looken4paradise says:

WOW-for all the negative comments and feed back-have you always been this “judgemental”, hateful, and or negative???? Get over yourselves!!!!! So what if people “choose” or “dont” choose to be apart of the AMBIT bandwagon-all I can say is; GO FOR IT!!! Go with your gutt feelings-if they tell you dont then dont, if they tell you go for it-THEN GO FOR IT!!!!!!! God Bless and good luck to the GO GETTERS!!

  41. Brenda says:

Why use an energy company who will shut your lights off, and/or charge you to file an extention. I called because I just transfered apartments, my last bill was ZERO, when i moved I never turned over the move in sheet, so i didnt get my key to the mail box. it wasnt but 10 days later that i got a courtsey call stating i need to pay $70 dollars or they were going to shut my lights off in 3 days.

i immediatly returned their call when i was told they dont do extentions, and then some woman told me to get on walfare. i dont need to be on walfare, (1) my paydates change to the 1st and the 15th, (2)I just moved to this place, and my last balance was ZERO, how can a compnay send you a $70 dollar bill in 10 days and tell you they’re going to shut it off in 3 if you dont pay them. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME.

Im using another provider. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AT AMBIT. They are nice to lead you in, take your money, but when a person honestly needs an extention because they didnt have enough notification to pay a bill. YOUR SCREWED…

Use another Provider.. The ONLY REASON, why Ambit, is #1 leader, is because they dont do credit checks THATS IT… But Mark My Words, these crooks, will take your money and leave you and your babies out in the cold WITHOUT PROPER NOTICE! IF YOU CAN USE SOMEONE ELSE!!!

I am about to join Ambit as a customer, but still not sure to become a consultant. My friend says that he should have free electric in a few months, and he has only been it for about two months so far.I know I can get customers to join to save money on their bills, but I am not sure if I can get people to become consultants.I think people have to see other people succeed, and then it would be easy.Like I said my friend is doing good so far,but once he gets his energy for free, that would be enough for me to really know it works, and to show others. The worst thing is I get free energy, and that would be just fine.

Question for owner of this site. Please reply. Is this company really a scam? I have been researching this business and really haven’t noticed anyone complaining about the website, loss of friends, etc… However I have read many blogs, post, etc about how much customers have saved. I use avg of 3k kWh per.month. Currently paying approx 11.5 per kWh (including fees) if I switch to Ambit 12 month green plan 9.3 per kWh. According to my last statement 3076 X 11.5 = 353.74 if I switch my plan to Ambit 3076 X 9.3 = 286.07. This would save me on an 12 month average $812.04 for this year. If I invest $400 to start my business, never obtain a down line I would still save $400. (thats my case based off of kWh used by me) With this savings how can you justify this being a scam. I haven’t seen where a web site is required however its offered. I am capable of creating my own website with SEO and social marketing if I wish.

Best I can see the product is a good product. Any customer in Sate approved for Ambit could save as well. The question I have for you is are you a business person or someone who blames everything on other people, someone who makes excuses that if you don’t put forth effort to be successful it’s someone else fault and denies responsibility for your own lack of sales or business sense?

Not everyone is cut out to be in business, sales, marketing, etc… However, if you can’t see value in savings $800 per year on something that you are going to purchase anyway, well, I would think anyone could share with neighbors, friends, family and have enough referrals to have free electricity. In my case that would save me $4,247.64 per year.

If this is a scam I want to be scammed.

when a minister who is a high-up consultant with Ambit tells you to take advantage of friends and family to get ahead (and if they refuse you should let them know the relationship is harmed) then yes, that is a scam.

  46. Garrett says:

My question to “scam says” Are people saving money with Ambit, or are they being scammed. Running a business takes a different mindset than a utility user. I just was interested if you could find anyone who said they actually paid more money or didn’t save from switching to Ambit.

I’m sure that Ambit doesn’t have anything to do with salvation so just because a minister makes a statement. Search his heart, doctrine or his god. However, don’t blame a company who actually helps customers save money on utility cost on one idiot.

  47. Peter says:

Ok…. If Ambit is not a scam, what service is actually being sold??? Where is this “MONEY” coming from that is given away so freely…. The way a pyramid scheme works (multi-level marketing) is a pool of money is combined, then picked away by the “system” (ambit), the rest goes to the actual service being sold (energy provider)… So they combine a group of bills together, average them out and charge that average price.. So say my bill is $120, but the average bill is $100, then my bill is only $100 too, for a total savings of $20… Here is why it doesn’t work… It’s cold now so I use alot of energy, however I only use this amount 3 months out of the year, so for 3 months I pay $120 and for 9 months I only pay $60… So if you do the math I’m better off on my own, cause of I were on ambit they make me pay $100 for a year making my grand total $1,200… On my own it’s only $900 a year saving me $300 that I didn’t put in someone else’s pocket… So for a consultant yes it’s a good scheme to make money, for the customers not so good… Basically everyone is paying each other with their own money, however no money is being added to the pool of money but only taken out by an ambit consultant… That’s how it works!

There are all kinds of people working every business. My day job is insurance. People HATE insurance companies, even though everybody needs insurance, and everybody really likes to get a new roof every 3 years when it hails. People typically don’t “hate” their energy provider. There are bad people in insurance and there are bad people in Ambit. But, mostly, there are also good people in both. When I started in insurance, I started at the very bottom. I now make 3 times the salary at which I started. That took 10 years. Since at times I have been absolutely miserable in my job at times, I have no problem doing something 5-10 hrs per week that I actually like.

Success in Ambit is related to 4 things, I think:
    1. how large is your circle of friends
    2. how much work are you willing to put into it
    3. how persistent are you–how many people give Ambit 10 years and 40+ hours per week? Not many. How many people who quit, quit in the first 6 months? I imagine a lot.
    4. your team–I have been in Ambit 2 weeks. My EC is great. He’s successful in his day job and he’s successful in Ambit. He’s been doing this less than 2 years and I’ve known him for about 12 years. I completely trust his integrity, and in two weeks he’s helped to get back half my upfront investment by helping me find customers. I am a third of the way to free energy, saving $100/mth–$1200 per year after tax-$1500 before tax. Everytime we meet, I learn something new.

And you don’t lose friends by telling them about Ambit. I introduced one of my good friends to the company. She has an MBA and has years of working in finance and management consulting. She responded really well to the consultant presentation and thinks the business model is incredible. Even if she doesn’t sign up as a consultant, I certainly didn’t lose the friendship.

I’m just researching here and I can’t help but observe the comments and condescending remarks… Pyramids are inherent in any company selling product no matter what that product is. Naturally, the majority of the profit sold selling any product would go to the founder or CEO.

I understand it’s all about HOW you promote this product. I’ve worked in retail for years and I’ve sold hundreds, if not, thousands of merchandise to customers and there are two factors: Presentation and S&D. Now, whether the product performs to specs in another thing all together. Normally this is not the case when it comes to energy, but when there are problems that need to be resolved that’s where troubleshooting comes into play. I do, however sympathize with Brenda, that technically should have been better handled and in all honesty, that’s just poor customer service. Whether or not Ambit is a scam, is something else all together. A scam by definition:

scam? ?[skam] Show IPA noun, verb, scammed, scam·ming.

    Need I say more…

    AMBIT IS A FRAUD!
THE PROOF -> Ambit has currently 120,000+ consultants (who paid $420+ to get started and $20+ per month to keep going. That my friend is over $50 million dollars (!!) in start-up fees from consultants and over 2 million dollars a month from consultants that AMBIT is raking in.
Now, about the compensation. AMBIT says there are 500,000 plus customers. And every consultant can include himself as a customer. SO ACCORDING TO AMBIT’S OWN FIGURES, every consultant brings in an average of between 3-4 customers period! Anybody who wants to make a career of signing up more consultants for AMBIT is unfortunately a partner in AMBIT’s game.
Do you realize that AMBIT’S main profits are from consultant fees? They know that there is no sucess in this business (except if you call signing up suckers a success) from their own figures and yet they promise the world.
STAY AWAY! Only Ambit and their folks are making money.
REMEMBER! Above figures are from AMBIT themselves. The goverment should close them down.

I said some things I would like to retract i.e. name calling, it was not the correct way to answer to people who have no clue as to what is really going on. I hope all succeed in all they do.

  53. Alan Akin says:

The business moto in Ambit is never sacrifice the integrity for growth. Thats leadership. Success is about leadership and certainly does not include many negative people. All energy choises are not like Ambit. Ambit is the best form of network marketing that exists. INC magazines # 1 fastest growing privately owned company in America in 2010. A proven business plan.
Not everyone understands network marketing just like everyone doesnt drive a Nascar. There is a bit of intense training in being the best at anything. It is a very simple repeatable business, just like the Big Mac or Whopper. There are a chosen few that can and will make this type of business work because they understand a proven and repeatable business. Many won’t or can’t, thats life. We save you money on electricity and gas and show others how to exactly do the same thing over and over, thats it. There is absolutely no scam involved in Ambit Energy what so ever. Leadership, ambition and persistance is all you need and you can be a success in this and many other types of business. So like they say – lead, follow, or get out of the way.
In life 20% of the people have always done 80% of the work and there is no difference here. Ambit consultants present a proven business opportunity and those who choose to join the team can sell you energy below retail and saves you money :) Simple as that.
