So you are looking to join Ambit Energy as a consultant? Are you wondering if your $400 investment (or whatever they charge now) is going to be worth it?
Well, statistics say that you are better off investing that money in a simple savings account because you will fail.
That’s right, the scam that is Ambit Energy is the fact that whomever is talking to you about it is getting you all hyped up on all the money you can make. They are selling you a dream. But that dream comes true for very few people. In fact, the person who is trying to sell you on Ambit Energy is probably making nothing either!!!!!!
Let’s see anyway, I bet you’ve heard things like this:
–natural gas and electricity are the perfect products because they are habitually used
–this is a ground floor opportunity
–natural gas and electricity are the new gold rush
–everyone uses electricity and natural gas so everyone needs what you are offering
Am I pretty close?
Well, guess what dear friend: 95% of you who read this will fail. Wanna know why? The reason you will fail is because you actually value your family and friendships.
That may have thrown you for a loop so read it again: The reason you will fail at Ambit Energy is because you truly value your friendships and family. In other words, you are not willing to take advantage of family or friends in order to advance you so-called “Ambit Business.”
Using Guilt On Family And Friends To Advance Your Ambit Business
You see, once you sign over your money and become an Ambit consultant, they will tell you to go get your first couple of customers. Those should be your close friends and family and if they should refuse to sign up as your electric or gas customer, then you tell them “well, our relationship is gonna change then since you won’t trust me on this.” ( I personaly heard this statement being made by a Texas consultant, a pastor, on a couple of occasions)
Therein folks, is the Ambit Energy Scam! The scam is in the Ambit leaders ability to shame you into taking advantage of friendships to advance yourself in the business. Have you ever heard the term “never mix business with pleasure?” …yeah, that is a true statement. It’s a bad idea. So the sense of the word “scam” is a different interpretation then what you are used to!
Convince A Stranger To Sign Up For the Ambit Energy Dream: Fat Chance!
But there is still more to the Ambit Thing… how about after you have sifted through all your friends and family and made them feel guilty or uncomfortable? Then what? Are you gonna go out and knock on doors in your neighborhood? I doubt it!
You see, after you have scorched all your friendships, the next thing is to talk with strangers, and that is a very very tough sell, especially when you really can’t offer them anything. In fact, you have to get them to fork over $400 too and try to live a pipe dream.
Folks, this is the trouble with ALL multi-level marketing schemes. They prey on your hope of something better. The problem is that less than 5% of people who ever sign up for some bull shit MLM thing every make their money back to break even. And you see, the rish assholes at the top count on the fact that there more and more suckers out there who will kick in the $400 and get a couple customers before becoming discouraged and quitting.
Only Already Established MLM Leaders Make Any Money With Ambit Energy
This is my opinion…
The final part to the Ambit is the fact that most of the top earners already were involved in some previous MLM pyramid before coming to Ambit. You can check it out. All of them were in some other thing that “just wasn’t working out” and decided to come over to Ambit. What does this tell you?
It tells me that in order to be successful in Ambit Energy, you need to be able to bring an army of seasoned MLM workers with you. It is nearly impossible to build an Ambit business with no MLM experience or previous contacts.
With all that being said, I do believe that Ambit delivers on what they promise their customers and they do pay their consultants their earnings in a timely fashion. The Ambit business is sound (for now) and financially viable.
The issue is the fact that YOU will not succeed in it. You just won’t, so save your money. Trust me!
UPDATE Feb 2009: oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention there is some ass-wipe in Texas who is an executive consultant that will try to sell you an “energy gold rush” website for a monthly fee as well. The big honcho above him, the founding consultant, sends out regular emails to the rank-and-file members encouraging them to invest in an Energy Gold Rush site. Kinda funny that you’d need to buy this third party website in order to be successful. Of course, I can’t seem to find any of his client sites (subdomains) ranking anywhere in the SERPS. In fact, the root domain only has 4 backlinks in yahoo site explorer and one is his now-dead personal blog! ha! another scam! (SERPs = Search Engine Results Pages) On another similar note, if this executive consultant is making so much money, why doesn’t he just give away the ENERGY GOLD RUSH sites for free?

Wow! so where is the scam exactly? I really don’t see it. I refer friends and family to discounts every day. I refer them to a cheaper, better movie theater…refer them to cheaper gas stations, cheaper and better restaurants, and I could go on forever and ever. We all do this all the time. Now, I just refer them to cheaper gas and electric with NO contracts, just savings and incentives. Sounds to me that you are a rogue ambit consultant that FAILED yourself and got too hot headed when your friends and family told you no and you did not handle it like you were taught to or like common sense would tell you. Would you get mad if a friend or family member didn’t take your advice on that restaurant, movie theater or cheaper gas station? The answer is no, probably not, because they are only hurting themselves. In a time of recession, you’d think people would like to save money, even when we’re not in recession, but unfortunately, people are so skeptical that they cannot see opportunity when it hits them right between the eyes. The way I look at it, it’s their loss! I guess you find out who your friends really are when you ask for a favor that will only benefit them and they say no, especially after all the stuff you’ve done for them through the years….so were they really a friend to begin with? Not to me! And family, hopefully most are like mine and will help me with no questions asked, but you know the saying, you can’t choose your family…that says it all! This business is truly the best opportunity I’ve ever had in my life and it is NOT hard when you stick to what millionaires and billionaires teach you! They want you to succeed and are giving us tools to do so. It’s all about psychology. If I get a person to look at the opportunity and they are not interested, then I TRULY do not want them on my team because they will do nothing and they really do not want to better their financial future….so I leave them in the dust and move on until someone sees what I saw when I saw the opportunity. When you truly have a dream or goal in life, the only people that will succeed are the ones that have drive and motivation like myself and those who NEVER GIVE UP! If every person in the world quit after they got a little rejection, then there would never be ANY successful people in life. We’d all be quitters, just like YOU, DG! Do you quit after an unsuccessful job interview or do you keep trying to find a job? Maybe you sit on the couch and collect off the government because you’re afraid of rejection, afraid of pushing through the rough times. Ambit comes through on absolutely EVERYTHING they promise. I have made over $1200 in the last month with very little effort, not to mention, it’s a blast; I love it! It’s not for everyone, it’s not for people who don’t have financial goals they really want to achieve. But it is for people who are persistent and consistent in their efforts and who truly want to make a change in their life. You said, only the people at the top get wealthy; that’s NOT true at all. I have already surpassed my sponsor in income and promotions. More than 3 of the people on my team that have only been doing this for a year are making over $20,000 per month…not bad, huh? They couldn’t stop it if they tried…it’s only gonna grow…it’s energy, folks, a no-brainer! It’s a piece of a $500 billion dollar pie that Ambit is letting us get a piece of. Talk about giving back to the communities. Last thought, I promise: THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WINNING AND LOSING IS QUITTING!
scammed is a lost cause. He obviously only sees his view on this and there’s no reason to continue to try to engage him in a meaningful discussion. Many people have posted on here logical, concise and rational counterpoints to argue from the other side of the spectrum and scammed just comes back with the same, tiresome, “leverage family and friends” statement. If that is all you are basing this entire blog on then you need to just give it a rest and move on.
If you put half the time into Ambit that you put into writing this blog and responding to peoples’ comments, then you probably would have succeeded in Ambit and would feel completely different.
As for producing real results, I can’t personally speak/claim that I have or will make good/great money through this opportunity. Whether or not I will hit a roadblock and give up is on me. However, my fiance’s uncle, a regular joe with a successful auto body repair business, is doing wonderful in Ambit purely for supplemental income. He started a little over a year ago and is almost on the verge of becomming an Executive Consultant. He is making over $3k a month residually. I have personally seen his PowerZone webpage and have viewed both his annual earned commissions and his expected monthly commissions, and they are both legit.
This was not someone who was any different than me or you. This was not one of the few that got in at the ground floor. This was someone who was brought in the same way I was and worked the business for a year and now is experiencing the fruits of his labor.
Regardless of how you feel about the entire business/company/etc., the reason, $$$$, is why anyone gets into business and there is $$$$ to be made in this business, I have seen it first hand and know that if he can do it, so can I.

My father has 37 customers under him, 18 are his, the rest the others that he sponsered signed them up as customers. He has been in only 3 weeks and 6 days today. So sorry scammed if you didn’t have success, but my father and brother have proven to me that what you said isn’t true. They are having great success and my father will be moving up a level really soon. To move up from “MC” (Marketing consultant – level 1) to a “RC” (regional consultant – level 2) you need to sign up 6 MC’s and each of them has to have atleast 5 customers, I believe. I am not in Ambit, but watching my father and brother succeed, makes me think about joining myself. They have never told me that if I don’t sign up it will change our relationship. Just because one person said that doesn’t mean that all consultants use that line!! We can’t control what everyone says, but we can control our actions and what we say. If you don’t like what one person is saying but you like the opportunity, which I believe is a good one, then sign up with someone else.

Forget all the scam comments. Can any of you Ambit consultants speak about the customer service aspect? I am considering the opportunity, but bottom line – I can’t sell a product or service that I wouldn’t truly enjoy myself. And I hate poor customer service: long hold times on the phone, lack of knowledge by the cs reps, poor service in the first place prompting cs calls. You know what I mean. Please share your real-time experiences. If customer service gets thumbs, I may try it (if the consultants ever reply to my emails!) Much respect.

So I signed up to be a consultant just the other day. I asked a close friend to be a customer and he said “sure after I read all the fine print”. He then read the agreement between NYSEG and Ambit. He found a bunch of things in there that make it scary and they raise a bunch of good questions. Now I am very nervous that I am going to “screw over” my friends and family. I dont know what to do. I have only signed up 1 friend so far and put all of the rest on hold. There is a conference scheduled here for Thursday hopefully I can find someone there that can answer all of my friends questions/concerns since he will be joining me. I see tons of complaints on the internet about this company. Any advice?
I signed up to be an ambit consultant about a week ago. I have only signed up myself as a customer. I am waiting to see if everything about their product is a great as they promise it will be. I figure if it is, then half the work has been done for me. I can just take my bill and my experience and share it will my friends and family. That way I am not risking anything based on another person’s opinion. I saw complaints on the internet as well. But do me a favor jess…..look up the complaints on TXU and other larger more established companies. The numbers are astounding and took me completely by surprise. I wasn’t going to sign up, but my sponsor told me something that I am definately going to use in the future. When I told her my concerns and that I wanted to look stuff up on the internet and do more research..she said to me ( when you moved into the house you are in and you signed up for Electric, did you research every single one, or did you simply call and find out who was currently the cheapest?) duh? I signed up for TXU because it was easy and cheap. That made me go ahead and give ambit a try. So if you are hesitant to sign any one up like I am, my advise is to have something solid to show them. The downside is that you have to wait to make your money back but i would rather have 20 customers in a month that are confident that I sold them a quality product because it will save them money and help them out than 20 customers who signed up to help me out and let me make money off them. I am excited about the ambit opportunity and cant wait to see where it takes me. Let me know how your experience continues to go jess
Jess…..I feel your pain man. I joined Ambit last year…and when I first read those complaints, I was really nervous. I had already signed up my family members and friends. And…….everything is just fine. Your friend can have his questions answered at a meeting. Senior Consultants and above are always there. Jess, the one thing Ive realized is that the internet is the worst….and greatest place to find information. Anyone…at anytime can slander Ambit….even if Ambit has never done anything wrong. Our competition is doing this because Ambit is getting all of the customers….they make up lies and post totally made up stuff.

Just Energy currently has a wholesale price flexible plan plus 1 penny which comes with the option as a non-green plan. Green plans are always more expensive. This is a great plan and is not a scam as you state. Unfortunately not all independent agents explain the program properly to their customers. All agents must wear id badges when out in the field as fully identifying themselves as Just Energy Agents. All contracts signed in the field are verified from the customers phone and getting their agreement to the contract over the phone with the agent present. There is also a 10 day cooling off period, which gives the customer time to review the contract before reaffirming registration. The customer also has 30 days to cancel their contract with Just Energy after they receive their first bill if they are not satisfied. And on the non-green plans, there is only an exit fee of $100, not what has been stated in previous blogs. There is a higher exit fee for green plans, which is fully explained in the contract. It’s apparent from this blog comments that people don’t read their contracts and don’t read them within the time frame of cancellation.
Wow are you for real scammed? I have been a consultant for Ambit for three months and every thing that Ambit tells you will happen happens with effort and consistency. I have 30 loyal customers and I am just getting started. Where else can you get paid over and over for work you do one time. Sounds like you need to get out of your moms basement and get a life.

Risk???? There are “Risk” in every step in our lives. If you are not a motivated person; then just work as others doing from 9 To 5. This is one of the best opportunity I have ever found. Of course; it’s not as easy as 1-2-3. You have to earn your position by dedicating your smart part time or even less than part time of your valuable time. I have been in business for the last 8 years and I agree Ambit Energy is one of the best opportunities available. It is not a scam, whoever consider as scam means their personal failure…..

Ambit is unethical and underhanded. They dont tell you up front if you ever get a disconnection notice you will be charged a Disconnection fee ($15) and Reconnection fee ($50) even though your service was NOT disconnected!!! I have never had to pay this with any other elec. co.
All you people who work for the company and defending it, how can you sleep at night knowing you are ripping off your family members and customers? I was out of work for 1 1.2 years due to the economy and managed to pay my bill on time. The one time that I did not I was stuck with these charges.
Now for the next 6 months I will have to pay a higher rate.
A message to you REPS of Ambit Energy, BE HONEST AND TELL YOUR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS this may happen. Its better to lose one at the beginning than deal with the problem later. At least they will have a chance to make sure if anything can be done not to ever get a disconnection notice.

All I know is that i have bin in this busniess for 1year now, and i am making $9,000 a month.and yes this isnt a get rich fast company. you have to work hard for about 3-4 years. The harder you work and try to get people to switch the more money you get. WoW! I joined ambit as a consultant and I didn’t take advantage of the free electricity rate so I am as well a customer. My rate is awsome and I even get a phone call letting me know I am late, to go ahead and pay before they shut me off. As to the woman complaining about the disconnection and reconnection fees, guess what? First Choice does this too! I was even disconnected before my due date and had to actually go through the BBB to get the charges off. Ambit isn’t a crude company, if you go to the grocery store and your credit card doesn’t work, do they say oh go ahead and pay us tomorrow? Electricity isn’t any diffrent than all the other things that have intrest rates, late fees and so on. I actually am having fun doing this. I haven’t done it long enough to reap all the reward however enough to know it isn’t that difficult to communicate with someone about a lower rate, and yes I do tell the customers before they sign up about ALL of the fees, shut offs, early termination and so on, fortunately for me the customers are still signing up.
In my opinion Ambit is pyramid. I was on 2 meetings in Illinois. This is same shit as Equinox, ACN, Amway etc…. I was told that I will not be able making money if I just switch customers from Nicor to Ambit. YOU HAVE TO MAKE A NETWORK of CONSULTANTS in order to be succesful !!!!

To Cynthia: Ambit didn’t pass those charges onto you. There is no switching fee with Ambit nor does it cost to switch back. Your charges may have come from another ESCO that was attached to your bill. I was with another ESCO before AMBIT and when I switched, I was charged by them because I switched in the middle of my contract year. That sounds like what happened to you. Do your homework first! I should have waited until the year was up, then switched, as well.

A neighborhood kid just asked me to sign my G&E over to Ambit..Just asked me for my bills and he’d sign me right up, just like that. Had no card., no info, no rate compare..nothing. That’s basicly the way an MLM is. Take a kids sign up money and send them out in the world. I don’t doubt there are a few folks out there doing OK. And regardless of how easy they make it sound , it wasn’t that easy. It’s been proven over and over again what the failure rates are for most folks that join a MLM scheme. Most will fail and a few will succeed. One guy will saturate an area and create multiple downlines and as each one fails he picks up the business that remains. MLM’s can ruin lives people. They destroy hope, create mistrust in families, ruin longheld friendships. They pray on vulnerability. Especially in tough times like these when common folk are looking for a way out from under. If you are approached by someone trying to sign you up and they make it sound to good to be true….IT IS..!

My husband just became a consultant 2 weeks ago and already made back in bonuses the money he put in to become a consultant just by signing up customers, also my family members that joined are happy, nothing has changed for them except they are saving a little money on electric and gas. They even received congratulations letters from con edison for choosing an esco. The truth is the govt deregulated energy to prevent monopolies creating competition to drive costs down for consumers. This is a good thing. This is our government protecting the people and our right as individuals to capitalism. Personally I think you are probably just an anti American communist. =P where are you getting this 95% failure rate, your ass?
I read that this company has like 200,000 clients and around 60,000 consultants ?..someone on here said she is making like 9,000 a month after a year…? How is this company making any money.? I am considering joining as a consultant, and would sign myself as my first customer to see how the billing works, but I cannot – I live in an area where the utility is owned and operated by a municipalilty (in NY state).
I, too, am hesitant as I read more and more about billing and customer service issues. A savings of 1% realized later doesn’t justify switching if you have to make a single phone call to Ambit to dispute anything.

Ambit isn’t a scam BUT their reps don’t get paid. They have savings program for customers BUT you have to KEEP getting customers. They don’t earn residuals if the customers don’t pay their bill in FULL..therefore they keep losing those qualified points and their residuals and their position. When the customer does pay the bill in FULL..that is when the residual is paid. I think if partial payment is made, partial residual should be paid. What do you think? BTW…I do energy AND Voip with and Inc 500 company too that Forbes magazine is talking about…we are the next Google! We give our reps ownership in the company!

Ambit is a legitimate MLM…and is another version of the same thing most mlm’s are these days. A serialized compressed view of capitalism. For God sake, almost 90% of our national wealth is owned by less than 5% of the population….what’s left for the folks at the bottom?…less than what they would hope for..MLM’s are no different . The system is built for the money to go directly to the top of the chain…then residuals and bonuses get meted out according to some convoluted barely legal formula. The difference here is while you are getting paid you are being held hostage to a theory that if you fail in this you are a complete personal failure. You will be shamed to your friends and family, so you stay in hoping that it will explode..after what 1 yr 2 years 5 years?..then you are in to deep…How many closers have been sent in to help you out? How many people have been placed under you that you didn’t recruit so your upline can get credit..? That is a sign that your leg is under performing..There is no shame in walking away from something that puts the elderly at risk financially and separates fools from their money.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I GOT SCAMED ALSO BY AMBIT. i know i should of read every word of the contract, but thats part of the scam. if you make it very long and full of a bunch of legel stuff that the average person don’t understand, they won’t bother with it. i know 90% of people don’t read the contract, they let the rep summurize it. now i was told that i got switched because i was late once and they had the right to switch me to a 17 cent rate without say a word to me. i’m one of those busy people who just pay my bill and don’t look at it. ambit makes a lot of extera money off people like that. once they got you under contract then they use that projection of usage to purchase electricity at a lowwer rate. thats why they try to lock you in at a rate that will be constant. now they sign more people up for this same rate they get a bigger discount on the next block of energy they buy, make a bigger profit while you still pay the same rate or higher if they find a way to raise you. so when they say they help you, they help themselves. just what i think

How you might ask? Sign up 15 Customers and Ambit will send you a residual income check equal to the suppy end of your gas/electric bill.
This fact has allowed me to receive a $200.00 check every month! This was income that had nothing to do with signing up any consultants or business partners.
There are many companies that promise residual income but cant deliver it without the consultant having to sponsor hundreds of people.
Ambit has delivered on their promises and anyone who attacking them…either has failed at Ambit….or has failed in another MLM company.
Dont listen to people who fail….they are failures in more than one area of their lives…and now they want others to fail because of how insecure they are about themselves when they see others succeeding.

These people are right with the “scam” part of it. At least, the top leaders want you to use their methodology, which is telling your friends & family that if they don’t want to switch over, it will damage your relationship with them. That is only if you become a marketing consultant and plan to make a career of it. If you want electricity, Ambit has the BEST bundled rates, and if you refer 15 people, you qualify for free electricity.
I do believe there is a different way to go about getting MC’s and customers without the damaged relationship threats. If you join Ambit as a venture, then you CAN do it your own way.

I have a company that sells energy. We had a meeting with a retirement community that just had an Ambit representative speak to them.
When we were done they signed up with us and said the Ambit rep. had no comparison, no numbers for them to review or anything.
By the way, we don’t just sell for one company. We sell a variety of ESCO’s and give the customer the right fit, usually depending on their usage.
If anyone wants to sell for me on commission, I’ll show you what to do and I won’t charge you a dime to do it. Our reps get monthly residual income and don’t need to recruit competition, I mean other reps, to make money.

I only had to read a little bit of this internet post to realize that this person has a chip on his shoulder about any kind of representative pyramid type selling.
Yes, there ARE SCAMS OUT THERE and there are companies that I would NOT want to get involved with! However, In order to sell a great rate on electricity from a reliable company like Ambit I DO NOT (and never would even think of it anyway) tell my friends and family that our relationship is over because they are not switching their electricity company to Ambit! If they do not want to switch to AMBIT they are either already with a company that gives them a great rate on their electricity each month already.
It is not hard to sell this product. It is not hard to convince people to pay sometimes half what they are paying for their electricity bill each month! When my household switched to AMBIT we were thinking “WHY HAVE WE BEEN PAYING about TWICE as much each month for electricy (at 15 or 16 cents per watt) for the last FOUR years!” When we switched to Ambit and at a fixed rate of 8.5 cents per watt for 6 months or 9.3 cents for 12 months we started saving my son’s preschool tuition each month right away! We are going to save well over $1000.00 for the year.
So, I did not give a second thought to refering the energy service to my friends and family. THE PLAIN FACT is that people deserve to know that they do not have to pay as much as they are each month for electricity. AND, if I can make a little $ or get my electricity free each month by nicely and fairly refering others the service in order for them to save or make $ each month…..TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT!
Besides, the service being sold in the manner in which it is is what keeps the rate lower for everyone. AMBIT does not have the same overhead costs as companies like TXU and RELAINT etc…. It’s Genius!

I joined the company only 2 months ago and I have made back almost half of the money I paid for my kit. Where else could you make almost $200 in almost 2 months for just a few hours or work each week?! It is freaking awesome!
Talk about selling a dream? What do 90% of Americans do every day of their lives? They go to work for someone else dreaming to get to the top or just hoping that after putting in 30-40 years that they will have enough to retire. Most companies don’t keep people 30-40 years anymore; it is very rare. Not to mention, retire? How many elderly people do you know that actually retire? I showed Ambit to a Knowledge Network owner here in Albany, NY the other day. She didn’t even let me get through the whole presentation and said it was a pyramid scheme. Mind you, I had set aside an appointment for 30 min with this woman to look at the business. She gave me about 5 min of her time (how rude). Anyway, I asked her what she planned on doing in her future…she said, “I’m going to sell this Knowledge Network after I build it up for a couple of years, then I’ll move to S.C. to retire. While retired, I’ll will open up another school and run that, build it up, and sell it.” How stupid are people? How can you say you are going to retire, but still work? That’s not retiring folks! Retiring is defined by: To withdraw from one’s occupation, business, or office; stop working. Anyway, Ambit is the ONLY business that I have seen in my whole life that allows you to put up a very small investment to put forth some hard work (which how hard is showing a video to a bunch of people?) for a few years to gain financial freedom. Financial freedom to most people is $3,000-$4,000 per month without having to keep working for it. I live in town with about 10,000 people in it. My friend who has never been in MLM before, is a local firefighter who joined Ambit 20 months ago in fear for loss of his job due to an accident. 20 months into the business, he has almost 1,000 consultants and 9,000 customers in his network. He is making a residual income of $3900, which has steadily gone up over time. So for you people saying that only the people who have been in network marketing before make the money, you’re crazy! That is not the only success story that I personally know. It takes commitment, persistance, and consistency to create a successful business. I have been a DJ/KJ for 11 years, dealing with drunks, broken equipment, constant investing into my business, and late hours. Thank God for Ambit because I can see a clear path to retirement in the next 5 years. To you people who are in Ambit, say “NEXT” to those stupid Knowledge Network type people and MOVE ON. I am an ambit consultant, have been for about two months. I have already made back my initial investment, $200 in bonuses, just qualified for free electricity, and residual income.
Ambit is pretty good from where I’m sitting…not to mention I have cut my electric bill in half with them!
So many dumb people, so little time. Hmmm. No contract, no start up cost, no cost to cancel the service….and you get a free gift just for trying the service….oh, can earn free vacations for doing what they have to do anyway…oh, can also have the chance to get free energy….oh that MUST be a “scam”. … No, what it is is a company who GOT IT RIGHT! I love all the people who love scam like businesses. Yes, these scams work for MANY people but also fail for MOST people. Now, it is veyy easy to be cynical and blame those failed people and their lack of motivation. The truth is that it takes a specific kind of person to succeed in such businesses. You have to be willing to sign up your family to a company you know has poor customer serivice. That should be the easy part however, then the real part comes in. How are YOU going to get strangers to sign up consistently? Is it doable. ABSOLUTELY. Is it easy? Heck NO! For most people who do not have schemy personalities is very hard. I am very happy as an accountang making 80k per year with TONS of benefits. Health insurance, vacations, personal time. You name it. Now for Ambit to make sence for somebody like me, I would have to make 15k per month with them for it to come out to be the 80k I make in accounting. Keep in mind with any type of scam like business you can make money, but no health insurance, no benefits. Get sick and you better have 30k saved up for a short stay at a hospital. Again, I am being neutral and realistic. I am not doubting Ambit or any such business. It works for some but is a KNOWN FACT THAT IT FAILS FOR MOST. There’s an army of people out there denying such facts that are statistically proven. There is no denying that MOST people fail.
BEFORE YOU HURRY TO SAY 15K PER MONTH IS MUCH MORE THAN MY 80K KEEP IN MIND ALL THE BENEFITS ON TOP OF MY PAY. THOSE BENEFITS ARE NOT FREE.
Finally statistical research also shows that most people who join such companies widely believed to operate as scams do not have a college degree. Just stating statistical facts. For somebody with only a high school diploma or less such business can seem very attractive. The expectation of making alot with little effort. Practically their life summarized. Little effort and expecting alot. Well, it did not work for you getting a high school diploma or college degree – DID IT? So, do not expect much without extreme effort in such company. Expect one thing. You will lose your sign up fee and that’s ok with the company. People done made money out of you and your hope of easy money for no work.
I was skeptical at first. After reviewing it several times I finally have a fairly good understanding. Those of you working for a company, do you get frequent raises based on your performance? Ambit does. The MLM model is a proven model. It is a fair and lucrative compensation model. Instead of Ambit spending millions in advertising it goes back to the MC’s that bring on business. The one problem they have… I was brought up, if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. Well that is their problem but I can tell you the opportunity is there and it does sound to good to be true. They have an excellent model, a state of the art support system. The only way to fail is to quit. It is not a scam by any stretch of the means.

A long time friend, who is with Ambit, has been trying to sell us on this “opportunity”, she says because she “cares about us and wants us to have more money.” We have known this woman for 15 years and she has never before expressed such a sentiment. I am an engineer and my wife is a school administrator. Our friend knows that we are not hurting for money.
Our real skepticism is piqued by our friend’s repeated “bring or send your friends”. It also is shady because she will not provide a detailed summary of “the opportunity”, but wants us to attend presentations at her house or a hotel. This is downright goofy. If a company can’t explain its product through printed English, then it’s something to be suspicious of. One thing our friend doesn’t know yet is that she is on the verge of losing our friendship.
Yes, it is fine to tell friends about deals, but a good motto to live by should be “Friends Don’t Badger Friends to Buy.”
Regarding the fee to be a consultant, this is hardcore evidence of a scam. When have you ever needed to pay to get a part time job? I can go to my local car dealer and be trained and allowed to sell free of charge…they’ll even pay me an hourly rate for the first month.
I do not doubt people are making money at this, but for most of us, I say get a moonlighting job at your local 7-11 or weekend job at the golf course, I guarantee you’ll make more money, be happier, and you’ll keep your relationships with your friends and family intact.
As an entrepreneur I have been able to research over 500 direct selling companies. Many of which use aggressive attraction methods to recruit incompetent people looking to escape the harsh reality of our economic situation. The recognition and accomplishments Ambit has achieved in such a short time are irrefutable. Of course, to many a “SCAM” may be something that requires an investment and doesn’t have the money work for them. I just recently got off the phone with a top earner in the company. Given my experience I had over 100 questions to ask that person. The integrity was there as the questions were answered immediately. In a traditional M.L.M there is a term known as auto-ship, which means every month you will pay your investment for your product to be active. “You have to pay to play”. Here, there is NOT. With roughly a 5 to 1 customer to consultant ratio Ambit has a solid retention ratio and keeps growing everyday. Another important factor that determines your success is your up line or your team. If you are approached for this opportunity don’t feel out of line to ask them anything, even to the extent of how much they are making and if they would be willing to show you there last check. There are 5 p’s that really make a home based business work. Product, Place, Price, Promotion, and PEOPLE. The product is used by everyone…check, the place is in 5 states right now and expanding…check, the price guarantees savings..check, Ask any movie director the best form of advertisement is word of mouth; with Ambit being number one on The Inc. 500 with little direct advertisement word of mouth/relationship seems to be expanding…check. Now for the last P, that’s you. You need to decide if you have it in you to make a difference, not only in your life but the lives of people around you. I’m a 46 year old unemployed man that has work all my life since I was 16 and I’ve had opportunities that has come into my life and each opportunities I have learn something in everything that I did in my life.In everything that I did I failed.It wasn’t because of the company or concept.It was because of me.I was afraid that I was going to fail. So I don’t blame anybody but me.Everybody has to look at themselves.It all starts with yourself and nobody else.Because none is going to do it for you. It’s Mary Kay without the creams and inventory. When I was approached today in the market, it sounded like the same “script” I was taught when I was selling and recruiting in MK. No, I didn’t “fail” at MK. Health reasons caused me to get out. But are MLM’s magnets for people in the “I hate my job, let’s get rich quick!” society? You betcha. This sounds no different.
I’ve worked with and counseled many women who got out of MK. Bottom line is “It’s a numbers game”. The top people get richer because they “teach” the bottom feeders how to bring in new people. Recruit, recruit! On average, for every 10 new recruits that come in, only 1 will still be there after six months, even less after a year. Which means you need to bring in 10 every month just to keep about 5 “sometimes” workers for at least a year. And that number is a revolving door.
You know what bugged me about the girl that approached me today? She didn’t even tell me WHAT SHE SOLD or WHAT SHE DID! She only kept telling me I could get rich like her in a year or two. You need a good product to make money. When you go to McDonalds… do they tell you how to buy a franchise before they ask you what would you like to order? NO NO NO NO NO! No different. You don’t join an MLM to sell your product, you join to sell the opportunity. my dad is 74 yrs old and got started in Ambit. I was just glad to see him get involved in something that he enjoyed, gave him something to do and met a lot of new people who have become friends. He saves people money by letting them switch to a lower priced service and have found the savings made it worth it to pay any penalty. If penalty to cancel other service is too high, you can always send them a little every month and they are happy. My dad asked me to get involved and I went to a luncheon with a very negative attitude but wanted to do it for my dad (I own small oil/gas company and have good income stream from my wells). Anyway, I went to luncheon, liked what I saw and heard and signed up. I am not a gullible person and also have a consultant firm that offers due-diligence which I utilized for my dad. He has received checks for very little hours put into this program, saves people money and is having a blast. I salute Ambit and am also signing up many people now cause its fun and easy.
Wow, someone missed the boat. I am a consultant with Ambit and it has met EVERY expectation, fulfilled EVERY promise and is an incredible company. I joined Ambit with the sole intention of working for the FREE energy . Well, I am there and happy to say that my electric bill this month was $6.48. Yep 6.48!!!!!!! Last month, $7.94. My average bills were 300-400 per month! As a consultant I shared the savings in Ambits rates, over brand X, and love it when I get the phone call when my customers receive their first bill!!!! I have NEVER used my friendships as a “tool” to get people to join, but I do have consultants on my team. The savings are in black and white. I have not had one complaint from any of my customers NOT ONE. Will I get “rich” who knows, will I continue to keep money in my pocket with the free energy, you betcha!!!!!!!!
Fully agree. This is a marketing scheme at its best disguised as MLM that is selling “a real product”. The scheme is not about the product, it is indeed real, and not about the fact that it is the multi-level marketing that has a pyramid structure – that is also fine. As some of their crap infomercials say almost any organization, including girl scouts and your place of work have a pyramid structure. The HUGE difference: none of the members of those organizational pyramid structures is required to pay a dime to join, and in doing so rely on other members joining in to recoup their investments. You see – your place of work and girl scouts have pyramid structures but these pyramids has a finite number of members and it is not required to grow endlessly for the members at the bottom of the pyramid to recover the money they put in (I strongly recommend you read the last sentence a few more time until you fully understand it!).
A simple mathematical analysis would reveal that if any member recruits only two new members below him the pyramid grows exponentially and soon enough consumes the entire population of the US.
This Ambit scheme is a pyramid scheme as many others before it. Unfortunately they flourish during recession times and suck many naïve and innocent people before leaving them out in the cold with even less money than they have started with. IT IS ILLEGAL!!! And while they can go under the radar screen for a while, they will be stopped eventually and the people scheming them will go to jail!
My strongest advice to anybody who joined and builds on this fake dream is: run away as fast as you can. Immediately stop paying them and consider the money you lost a “Rabbi Gelt” paid for the biggest lesson in life: How to avoid becoming a sucker.
I have sat down and read almost every post on this site, now here is my situation: i have had ambit energy for a little under a year now with no problems(the low rate and vacation helped my decision), i pay my bill on time except for once but even then i received a late notice. Now I have some extra time on my hands and was considering becoming a consultant for the company to try and accomplish the goal to receive free energy and maybe make some extra cash on the side. So I had the person who help switch me over to Ambit (she is now a senior consultant) come over and explain the process, so she pulls out her ipad with an app for Ambit. She then continues to explain more about the company and how it works, well half way through her presentation i had already grasp the concept of work envolved in becoming a consultant. She then continued on to explain that since i already am a customer of ambit that she will give me one of her new customers in replacement of me, which is fine and shows me that she was willing to help me out. She also explained as being a senior consultant she has had the opportunity to build a team of consultants through her real estate firm and also informed me that she helps her new consultants gain customers by giving information and taking time out of her day to talk with the new customers or consultants to help on any questions or even sit down and give a presentation which sounded great. Now im not saying i want to be apart of her team cause i honestly feel like i could start my own, but the feeling of having someone there to help you accomplish not a dream but almost like a side job that could help me accomplish free energy rates and some extra cash in my pocket too, now i have been scammed before and it sucks. And forking up $400+ and a $25 monthly fee doesnt sound great, but its always been said you have to spend money to make money. So here is my deal im not real skeptical about trying it out but i just want to understand why there is so much negative feedback going around( i know most of you havent even tried it out and your calling it a scam which doesnt make sense at all), if your seriously trying to quit your job and make this your main income GOOD LUCK, but if you think like me and want to make a few extra funds on the side and have a chance to lower my eletric bill it would be great!!! As for talking with my family and friends about switching over wont be easy and im defintely not going to pressure them into anything but i will sit down and start researching rates and other different services to see where ambit differs from the competition (and ya i should have done that before even switching my energy service over but at the time was working so much i didnt get a chance to). Well my next step is to do some research call up the competitors and compare. Once i am done i will make my decison on becoming a consultant. Because my best interest is making my life easier and more enjoyable with having extra income and if im able to help my friends and family save money then why not jump on the opportunity. MLM is a career path that people choose everyday. It is no different then someone joining the police force, becomming a doctor, firefighter, electrician, carpenter or working at a Home Depot. There are many people that realize the above listed careers are not for them and move onto another job. Just like there are many MLM people who move from one company to another. We all learn from our mistakes we make as some MLM companies do. AMBIT is not a scheme it is an energy company just as any other that uses network marketing to get its name out in the open. If you work as hard as you do for yourself as you do for others you will benefit you much more and AMBIT offers that opportunity for a fairly reasonable start up cost. I risked $455.00 to give this company a shot and made my investment back 2 fold. So the worst that can happen now is i break even. I would rather listen to a Millionaire tell me how to make money, then to someone who has no financial value to show in there life. Think about this about are you going to goto a Doctor for medical advice or your friend who read some information on the internet about a condition.
O and for all the people throwing statistically information about the success ratio. Look at how many people are taught to goto school get good grades goto college, get a degree and you will succeed in life. Have you watched the news lately on the success rate of college grads getting jobs? or even students dropping out and being left with tens of thousands of college debt they can never pay back. Show me some statistics on that. Point is people are very successful and unsuccessfull in many things in life. Find what your good at and if MLM is one of the go for it!

Cant believe people ripping on ambit. Well with my current company you make .002 cents.per kWh. that is 1,000,000 kWh a year. I get paid $2000 dollars.. With Ambit I dont think I make would make $5 bucks. I do the work I get paid the most money. Plus no sign up fees and no monthly web site fee. And my company is the only digital website with live trading of electric. I don’t get paid the money that jingles. I get paid the money that folds. I quit Ambit as an RC with 3 coded in RC. Yeah, I was given this pitch today and my spidey-sense tingled when the fella said, “We don’t want you to sign up more than 20 costumers.” The emphasis was on recruiting more people beneath you. Which makes it seem that the real revenue for this company is not the electrical service but rather the fresh cash poured in whenever a new “consultant” signs up.
I was even told that they have expanded into commercial services but to not worry about that. Why not? Seems to me that selling to resturants, movie theaters, malls, etc. would be much more lucrative than homes.
It all smelled fisher than a cheap buffet that serves raw oysters under heat lamps.
I’m not a distributor of any mlm at this this but have made over 100k per year with nuskin from 2003- 2005. I own a fire service equipment company which pays me more than what I was making at nuskin so I decided to quit nuskin. I still receive commision checks today. I had to make a comment about the notion that only 5% of the people who joined mlms are successful. That is true, but the fact is that only 5% of the population is successful no matter what vehicle they use to earn income. The real fact is that most millionaires rely on leverage to exceed average incomes. Whether you own a business with employees or have downline in a mlm you must have others working for you to have leverage.
For your information, pyramid schemes where abolished in the 80s. Federal laws where enacted which required all MLM compensation plans to allow distributors to make more money than there uplines if the out performed their uplines.
You are all so gullible. Do you think Ambit would see this site and do nothing about it? I have been an Ambit customer for about 7 months and what the non believers say is mostly true. After about 3 months your bill shoots right up and when you try to call them you get the runaround and no answers. Use your heads, if it sounds too good to be true, it is. I am dumping Ambit now!!!

The problem with this guy’s reasoning is he offer’s no evidence for his claims. The guy doesn’t even refer to Ambit Energy’s actual compensation structure, which allows for consultants who aren’t near the top to earn more than others above them in the hierarchy. This is because Ambit only pays you for your performance, in terms of customers acquired. There are at least 4 ways to make money in Ambit, and they are all based on performance.
Also, whoever signs up for an MLM and realistically feels they won’t have to talk to strangers in order to earn a lot is lying to themselves. After all, this is a sales job. It’s part of the gig. Get real!
So far, I have lost about $177.00. It really is a scam. I was suckered into it on my way hame from a funeral. I wasn’t thinking straight. After reading and watching all the info, I realised – I have been had. They signed people under me at first to get me into this mess. Ambit Energy IS a real company, but the consultant part is a scam. The people above me, asked me to give them all the names and numbers of my friends, so they can call and recruit them. Thanfully, I had enough sence to say NO.

Do any of you realize that many of us do not and refuse to do business, with any type of MLM or pyramid company? I’m really PO’ed at my new apartment complex, when I asked who the electric provider was, since I was moving from out of state. On my paperwork, they gave me Ambit Energy and the rep Aydee Moser and Ambit’s phone number. When I called the Ambit number, someone answered very unprofessionally from a cell phone and proceeded to take my info. I received email confirmation of my order from a personal Yahoo email address and that’s when I started getting suspicious. I did a lot of research about Ambit and their business model and you guys have to understand that this is a very shady way of receiving electric service. What’s next? Getting the water connected from a reseller at the local pawn shop? What made me even madder was when I sent this gal an email to cancel my order to her personal email, she berated me and wrote “”Wow when we spoke I believed you were an intelligent person”. Is this the trashy way they teach them to overcome a cancellation at the pyramid school? I’d rather rub two sticks together and make my own sparks than to ever do business with this trashy company. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

My mom signed up for Ambit recently. She often signs up for business opportunities but never works at them. She will convince family and friends but she won’t go outside her circle and then she fails the business and then jumps to the next business opportunity when she runs out of people to “sell” to which is only her family and friends.
I’ve also read alot of ambit complaints online. How will my mom respond to her potential customers when they question her that there are alot of complaints about this company?
I just happened upon this site looking for an Ambit Consultant. I hate it when people like this label a legitamate business a rip off or a Pyramid. If you dig into the person making sites like this one it is usually someone who joined any MLM and was too lazy to do the work or too bashfull to approach people other then family. Hi, another scam, well just my findings, is that Ambit is cheaper. I just got my bill from NYSEG, which is still how you get it here in upstate NY ,and it was way higher than before. I wish I had never signed up, everything was fine before. I didn’t want to do it, but a friend pushed me into it. Next time listen to my gut. I was given a business card, and info on Ambit. The gentelman was telling me how much money he made and encouraged me to look at the web site. It was here that I found out about the 400.00 investment fee. Makes me very nervous to think of this much as my husband has been unemployed almost a year. I am reading negitive and positive, not sure what to belive.
I would just like to say, that I am an ambit consultant, I have not been able to add any other consultants under me… which is discouraging! I have added a few customers, however, I have tried A LOT to get new ppl to look at the business. I guess I am one of the ppl that get in this business and fail. I also know a few ppl that have gotten involved with Ambit and they force thier friends or family into it. If a friend tells them “no”, these ppl will no longer be thier friend, which i think is totally insane!!!! If ppl chose to not be involved, i would rather keep them as a friend than lose them over a business. I refuse to let money get in the way of my happiness. I would rather be poor and have truly great friends than be rich and have burned all of my bridges. One thing I can say about this whole thing. as successful as Microsoft, Google and many great and successful companies are people are always discrediting them why should Ambit be any different. I read the first 48 comments and out of those comments 7 of them where negative towards Ambit and were posted by Scammed, Mike, Micheal, Oscar, Darlaq and 2 others I forgot to put down. by reading their comments I can clearly tell. They are lazy individuals with no real involvement with Ambit what so ever maybe one of them who claimed to be a costumer. My question to you now is. If you need info on how to be a carpenter would you 1) ask a doctor 2) ask a bus driver or 3) ask a Carpenter….
NY state Ambit customers have a written savings guarantee. The person who says their bill was higher after signing up for ambit doesnt understand how energy is traded on wall street.

I too have been looking into Ambit as a supplement income, I like the job I have, but extra income for a family of 6 would be wonderful! Yes $429 is a chunk of money, i know I have blown more on things I cant recall. My concern is how do these other consultants recruit so well? Whats the secret? Flea markets? Fairs? I dont think getting customers is a issue, who doesnt want to save $$$$, especially when gas keeps going up!! And as I recall there are no contracts or fixed rates! Am I right? I would never sign a contract for utilities, so I wouldnt expect my customers to either! I am a mom of 4 boys and would like to believe that there is a real bussiness out there that has a future, I could have a future with it!

Ambit is an Awesome Opportunity, as well as other MLM companies. It is not what a lot of people think it is, “GET RICH QUICK”. It is not a full time career, right of the bat. It takes TIME, Consistancy, training, AND SUPPORT, especially from your sponsors. And no matter what, you cannot quit. A lot of people will quit within their 1st year, because its hard and they don’t see much progress or any at all. Just like any other business. If you are just starting in a your own MLM business, talk to the people who are successful. You do not have to put any relationships on the line. What you need to do is just EDUCATE these people correctly and leave it up to that. How I do that, is I let someone else who is better than me in the business, explain it to them. That way, it takes pressure of me and my contacts. Some people get it, some don’t…so what. With MLM companies out there, the product of service has a huge impact on acquisition of customers, as well as representatives. Like Ambit and the company that I am involved with, what we offer is a product or service that is consistent and has demand well into the future. If any of you are thinking about investing into a MLM company, find someone that’s already involved, who will work for you. and in time, you will PAY IT FORWARD!
I don’t know were you got your information but Ambit does work and I have prove if any one is interested. I will be receiving free electric starting in June for signing up my 15 customers. Of those 15 only 2 are family members. I don’t plan on making a million dollars on this company, but saving money each and every month on my electric bill is worth the time and effort I have spent on this business. i have just been approched to join in with the ambit team. Googled it and came to this blog. read about half of them. with the exception of the first complainer, everyone seems to work for ambit. Where are the satisfied customer posts? just want to be an informed customer.
Scam? Not at all. I joined as a customer and save about $25 a month on my electric alone. Why would i not want to pass those saving along to friends and family?
If Ambit was not working why would Inc 500 have it listed as fastest growing private company in US?
If Ambit was not working why would i have received a residual check and i am an MC (the lowest level consultant)?
Maybe the top people will make more money, but they got in first. However the potential to grow in unreal. Look i am not looking to be the next billionaire. Keep your financial goals in perspective. However 500 to 1000 per month can change my families life. My kids can afford to go to college, without selling their soles.
How you present this business is the only challenge. However any business will present itself as the best thing ever. I can focus on any negative points, or i can listen to a loser like you. For my family, i will do anything it takes to live a comfortable lifestyle. How about you? As far as rates go, if you think you can get cheaper, i will help you switch, that goes for anyone. The real thing is this, almost no one will go out and compare rates. They will just take what the electric company gives them. So if nothing else changes, why not have them join and help me and my family? Why give the money to another corp? \

Instead of people labeling MLM as scam maybe you should do the research. Truthfully it probably is a scam to those not making money, but the reality is the things that I am good at may not be things that you are good at. Just because you see it as a scam it’s probably more because that industry does not fit you. That’s ok because it’s not for everybody, but DO YOUR HOMEWORK. You said “MLM pyramid thing”, right? For your information Multi-Level Marketing is a COMPENSATION PLAN, NETWORK MARKETING IS A BUSINESS MODEL. Every network marketing company has different compensation plans some are MLM, some are binary, some are neither, however this industry or form of business, has created more millionaires than ANY OTHER INDUSTRY IN THE LAST 5 TO 10 YEARS! More people are REALLY seeing their dream come true these types of companies. The number one killer to network marketing is TIMING, you have to get into the company and make sure that the products are truly something that will have it’s time soon and not already past. Of course everyone hops on something after people have already made money off of it but the trick to being really successful is hoping in and staying in when it’s at a slow beginning. In due time, it will be time for those investments to pay off, AND WHEN THEY DO, THEY PAY and THEY TAKE WORK! PERIOD. So don’t be so critical of something that you may not know a lot about. If you had a bad experience with the company than, that’s understandable and should be addresses, but don’t equate the company with a very legitamate and stable BUSINESS MODEL. All COMPANIES (JUST ABOUT) are pyramids- start at the CEO=1 person, Board of directors=3-4 people, Upper level management 10-15 people, lower level management 20-25-people, employees= HUNDREDS) WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE- A PYRAMID. These opportunities are for people who are not satisfied with just an hourly pay, in network marketing you get paid for the work you actually do. What always amazes me is how nasty the reps of these different MLMs become when their “program” is citicized or even mildy questioned. It really is abuse to call a complete stranger a “loser” or “nutless” or a “hater”. If this company is so great, why not just emphasis getting customers instead of “consultants” @ $429.00 a pop (consultants who generally know nothing about the product they’re selling).
Why don’t the “enthusiastic” consultants on this site (and others) just address the questions posed rather than verbally abusing the questioner?
I think people who belittle others for asking questions (regardless of how they’re stated) need to take a long hard look at themselves and question whether or not they are bullying friends and relatives into buying “franchises” in these kinds of (seeming) schemes.
In other words, clean up your mouths and answer some tough questions. Otherwise it’s you who are a “hater” and most likely a “bully” as well.

In any business, to increase profitability, you must hire employees to leverage their efforts to accomplish more. The unfairness in any corporation, is that the C.E.O and only the C.E.O has leverage. In Ambit Energy each and everyone of the consultants is given that same opportunity to have leverage! The fairness in Ambits structure VS. the Corporate structure is that: Consultants in your Ambit organization can make more money than the people above them bases on performance!
In a Corporation, regardless of performance, you are paid according to where you are positioned in the “Corporate Pyramid”, only 1 person at the top…leveraging off the efforts of everyone who makes far less then they do.
Ambit is the best business model in the history of capitalism! If you disagree go ask the BOSS you work for if you can make more money than him….and make sure they guarantee that you never get laid off!
And one last thing: make sure the Corporate Pyramid doesnt spend your retirement.

You don’t have to base sales on family and friends. Is this product worth buying? That’s my questions. MLMers want you to believe that as long as you try …maybe forever, you will succeed. That’s a lie for most people but it keeps you in the game long enough to make your sponsors rich. But the non-mlmers are just as bad. They believe that MLMs can’t work. The truth is these businesses are like any other. If you don’t know if it will work, don’t do it. You don’t have the know how or the experience. Bottom line is quit listening to people. They all promote their own agenda. I think this could work but only if you came to that same conclusion without following anyone’s advice. Not your controlling sponsor, not your skeptical family, no one. Be a man…or a women, LOL and figure it out for yourself. If you don’t get it, call me. I definately want to bundle household services.

A trusted friend gave me the material to look over so I’ve read all these blogs with interest. I don’t want to get into something that others will hate me for later, so how a company responds to those who are electric customers is crucial to me. I’d also like to know more about what happens “after the sale” to those who buy the material and become a consultant. Many out there get you “hooked” and then come the phone calls with people trying to get you to bite on even more of their products (of course so that you can be even more successful) that usually are higher priced. How does this company stack up that way? I don’t like being harassed and those company’s doing this most I find are just scammers trying to get even more of your hard earned/gained money. I found myself asking God to direct me to ONE true and HONEST business I could do PROUDLY at home. ETHICS and MY GOOD NAME mean alot to me and I expect the same of any company I would be involved with and be representing. Thanks for reading.

This is not a get rich quick scheme, but you can make lots of money if you are willing to do it like it is laid out to do. My 16 year old can not wait to turn 18 so he can do it.

Just started my Ambit business and I love it… so far so good and I intend to go all the way…you only get what you put into it. It took me a while to join because I had the same questions and concerns, but I can tell you that as an Ambit consultant I have found eveyone to be helpful. Customer service and Consultant support are excellent. My Regional, Senior and Executive consultants are great and are always there to help when I need it. It’s not a scam and it’s not a pyramid. I am fully enjoying my new business and soon will make it my full-time business.
I tried Ambit for a friend and it was not worth my time. I got a few customers but at $.25 each not worth it. Now getting consultants that is the trick to make money not friends. You want a good mlm try avion more money for your time and no bugging friends for $400.
My wife went on and became an ambit consultant. i am in the military and she fgured thi would be a great opportunity. when i went to the meetings i observed something that made me a little supicious. they would have people who say that they flew all the way from texas just to tell people how they made it in ambit when i saw the trend. these people look like regular joes they gave a few bucks to in order for them to help scam more people into thinking that they can make it.. i mean really, a guy who is dressed in baggy clothing, no hair cut, and poor speaking doesnt make me believe so much. my wife only made 100 dollars. there is no residule income coming in. people isnt gonna spend 400 and try to get other people to spend. i feel that you people are wasting your time and money in this ambit company. i say stop being lazy trying to find a get rich quick thing and just get a real job. its not worth the hassel. i was supportive until i saw nothing happen and the same people saying how they made it in ambit. the only ones maing it are the top guys who constructed this scam and is just pocketing the money as people sign on. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!
So for me it seems like you are basically ranting because you didn’t put any effort into this program and if you did, you just did in all the wrong ways. The only reason you should ever tell this to friends or family or even strangers is if you have the firm conviction that this program will help them and better their lives. I believe all the Ambit people are encouraged to find sites like this and refute the claims. The truth is that ALL MLM schemes do not work.
Search for “Ambit Energy” on Google. The fourth result is about the business being a scam. There are a lot of companies that people dislike and write awful things about on the web but when there’s this strong of a backlash then you know something is fishy.
All these Ambit guys are delusional. There’s no such thing as easy money. How can you enjoy it? All you do is spit out rehearsed lines and buzzwords and promise people an unrealistic dream.
People in these schemes act very similarly to cult members or conspiracy theorists. They won’t change their views no matter how much evidence is put before them.
I’m glad this blog is here to warn people about this scam. I haven’t been a part of Ambit but I do know someone who tries very hard every day to try to sell me on it and I did have a job interview with a similar company. The only problem was that it wasn’t an interview. It was a training class where they cleverly train you to lie to people without you even realizing it. This is for the desperate and it saves no one money.

a friend of mine tried to get me to sign up…..I told him i wasn’t interested but would be willing to be a customer. I have heard from other customers that the bills under ambit are trully cheaper. My concern is what if their is a technical problem. I live in queens and power outages happen. Con Ed trucks are all over constantly fixing Tech difficulties. i don’t see any ambit trucks…how does it work?
I just heard about Ambit today. I am a college grad. I’m amazed at some of the comments here. Reconnect & disconnect fee? Most companies charge similar charges although they call them late fees. Rates going up? If this is true, the same thing happens when you pay your credit card late. Therein lies the incentive to pay on time. From what I’ve researched regarding the company so far, all is legit. Of course people on the top make more money. How do you think CEO’s get to where they are? Most start at the bottom, and get the most out of every employee, then they move up, slowly but surely with lots of hard work. It’s called incentive people. There are NO get rich quick schemes. If at the Ambit meetings, you are being told to threaten relationships if they don’t come aboard, don’t use that terminology. I wouldn’t. You save money, there’s no contracts, that’s that.

I am not an Ambit Consultant or customer. I do however, wonder if the author of this article has a particular axe to grind with them. He or she clearly has NO understanding of what legitimate MLM’s are all about. Yes, there are scams…just like in any other business. I remember years ago when I was starting my career someone approaching me about Amway. Everyone said it is a scam. Yet 30+ years later, they’re still around. I even know one of the senior people at the company.
Bottom line, when getting involved with an MLM, do your homework. If someone asks you for $10,000 to get started, the red lights should go off. Honestly, if you are REALLY interested, $429 doesn’t seem like much of a risk to find out if this is somethnig you might like.

I started as a rep with ambit energy and made over 1000 and got promoted making even more money within a few weeks. Its not a scam its just that you have to put in a little effort but then again that goes for everything in life. Wheather or not you become a millionaire or just make a few hundred or thousand is all up to you and your own actions. If you go into a co thinking its a scam you already don’t believe in what your selling. How would you sell what you don’t believe in and use? IT was featured by Inc. 500 magazine in November 2010 – thats pretty reputable so i think the FEDS already know about it and it’s listed on the Better Business Bureau.
I was approached by another consultant from Sure NY Energy – this guy tried to look at my current energy bill so he could write down my account # and information – this is a scam – he says he wanted to check if my account was up to date – if I let him do that he could have taken my info and signed me up for his company with out verifying anything. If people from Ambit are doing that too they will get caught and taken out of the business.
I started last week and already made my investment back. With over 600.000 customers this is not a scam, I don’t think so. But every body has their own way of thinking, and some people just have stinking thinking. Any time you can help people save money that’s good. Any body can use the blog to run things down, but if you were saved and new the lord as your savor you would know that you are wrong about making comments that you are not sure of. If you know for a fact that Ambit is doing what you say and can prove it show me the document. I have a felling that reliant is the ones behind this, because you can see their name at the top of page. So just consider what company is asking for business at the top of this page.
I think Ambit Energy is a great company, i read all these comments on how it makes you harrass your friends and family , but i dont think it has to be that way. its just a business, you have to work hard for it. I’ve just spent the last 15 minutes reading this website and many of the comments. All I get from this is that somebody wasn’t successful with the Ambit program for whatever reason, and now is mad and trying to “get back at them” or something.
You’re pretty pathetic, Scammed. If you put half as much energy into being successful in life as you seem to put into this site, you’d probably be a lot happier. Sadly, I too lost a friend trying to rip me off as she got carried away by the uplifting buzzwords and jargon built into the Ambit Multi Level Marketing business plan.
As I got suckered into this scam, my energy bills increased 172%. Switched right back to ConEd and wished I saw through the b.s. earlier on. It is very much like Amway. Sure, somebody will make money, just don’t let Ambit people make you a “loser” by actually convincing you they are offering you a superior “product.” They money is made when other underemployed, otherwise hard working Americans, get anxious and get glamoured by jargon of being “free,” “unregulated,” “independent,” etc.
It’s amusing to watch people drink the Ambit cool aid and defend it vehemently, like tea partyers going ballistic defending “liberties” and buzzwords they do not really understand.

Scammed: I was never told to pry on my family or friends. I asked them and if they said no, I told them thaks for looking and tryed others. I was never told to say it would change our friendship or the love I have for my family members. I have been in this for 3 months and just moved up to RC and my friend that signed me up and I are helping all of our team to be sucsesfull. As in everything in life, you get out what you put in. This is going to let me retire in less than 2 years. I feel said for you and hope you get better soon. If you look up any legitimate company, there are not even discussion groups about wether or not they are a scam. There are pages of discussion groups regarding Ambit being a scam. This is easy people! You will not see anything about this business in a year or so and they will open under a different name selling different crap. I know that all of the $8 an hour employees of this fictional company will now come on here posing as actual satisfied users (as they have done above) but it’s very easy to see through. By the way, I have not invested a dime in this and was just checking it out for a friend. I have nothing at stake but I hate to see schemes like this. They just create broken dreams and empty wallets.
Pyramid scams have been around for a long time. Each generation thinks that they cant get rich quick without working hard. They fact is pyramid setups are all scams unless you are at the top. In my 57 years i have seen them come and go. Same promises until those at the top milk those at the bottom out of their money, then they are off to the next fad. It os sad so many people are ignorant and get lured into pyramid scams only to find out the are suckers.
This has been a very interesting read indeed! All I wanted was to save some $$ on my utilities but after reading this, and seeing the how the people who represent Ambit are behaving I will kindly stay away. One thing that some of you didn’t learn in your “mlm” classes or whatever they sold you on is professionalism. When someone submits a con towards Ambit, the reps of this company are resorting to name calling. That’s no way to represent a company.
I had concerns in the fundamental pitfalls of deregulated committees that are necessary for modern civilization such as electricity. I wanted to start a discussion on that, but now I have no reason to even get that far. So lets touch on why this is all complete and utter BS!!
First, people keep throwing around the word “dreams”. Since when is money and mlm a dream? How many children say “I want to be in a mlm pyramid when I grow up?” None perhaps? A dream is doing something you love to do, and happen to get paid for it. For some it’s owning an auto-shop, becoming a nurse, pilot, or being a journalist. I work in the aviation industry and am by no means rich, but much happier than many people earning much more. I could have used my education to be a miserably wealthy lawyer, but that’s not my happiness.
Mlm is marketing hype to a T. Its all illusion, little substance. I see some of you even took a few versus strait out of my old marketing textbook, nice work. All these schemes, scams, business plans (wow first time that phrase has been used) whatever you want to call it have to sell people on hopes and dreams. There’s nothing tangible.
So go ahead Ambit supporters call me names, ignorant, or what have you. Fact of the matter is no real commodity industry can have a significant worker/provider to customer ratio. It’s called economics. But this isn’t an industry you are selling, it’s hopes and dreams. Sure it can work, just like the lottery.

As a personal customer of Ambit Energy, I just want to say that the author of this post is misinformed and counting on “mob mentality”. I have been using Ambit for the past 2 years and would HAPPILY refer my friends and family to them. My ass is locked in at a 9 cent a kilowatt rate that NO ONE can beat. When everyone else is paying 15 cents a kilowatt, I’m laughing at y’all. They have a great product to sell. And I personally believe that energy is a great market! Up until recently, when all these “mom and pop” energy companies popped up, major energy companies like TXU and Reliant had a monopoly almost on the energy market. Now, it is not so much

I am going to my first convention tomorrow in Staten Island New Jersey recently opened up their market for ambit and frankly I am excited for financial stability but also I have plenty of concerns. One can i alone just make lots of money off of people who use ambit and are not consultants?
Or is the reliable way to make bank off of this business is to sign people up to be consultants? I’m not to sure how many people will be able to convince to dish out 400 bucks for the package its self. Someone please tell me how easy it is to switch over from for example New Jersey’s PSE&G to Ambit.. is it just a simple phone call and bam its over with or do people actually have through go through a tedious method of cross over that in term will probably discourage them to switch in the first place? Fact is New Jersey just crossed over September 1rst so with that being said its a fresh batch of cherries to pick I’m young and I am super well networked so if this is a legit opportunity I think can do big things with ambit.. some one please reply!

as far as customer service…ambit has a fortune 500 team in charge of customer service, and the enrollment process is as easy as typing in several key strokes, and a third party verification processing person to verify that all that info is correct!
as far as customer care…i cannot tell you how many times i’ve received a phone call, email, facebook message from my customers praising the great rates, the company, and how much they appreciate the savings.
this business works if you work it…just like any other business.
